Owner Turn in Policy-

Owner Turn in Policy (For Coventry Residents Only)

Any domestic animal that is brought to the pound by it’s owner to be put up for adoption because the owner can no longer keep the animal must fit all of the following requirements. 

1. Animals can only be turned in by their owner with a valid ID. 

2. All animals must have a letter of health and good temperament from a Veterinarian that also contains the age, sex, and basic description of the animal.  The animal cannot have a bit history and must be an adoptable animal and visually healthy.

3. All animals must be spayed or neutered, dewormed and be currently vaccinated rabies and distemper. 

Dogs must also be vaccinated for Parvo and Kennel Cough, have had a recent negative Heartworm test, be currently be on heartworm preventative and have had a current flea treatment that will last approximately one month from the date of turn in. 

Cats must also have had a recent negative Feline Aids/Leukemia test and have had a current flea treatment that will last approximately one month from the date of turn in.

Rabbits/Ferrets:  The owner must supply proof of any vaccinations required by state and federal regulations and where the animal originated. 

Turning your pet into Coventry Animal Control does not guarantee that it will be placed.
