CPD Operation BLUE RIPTIDE

Operation BLUE RIPTIDE 2008

The Coventry Police Department, The RI Police Chief’s Association, and the RI Office of Highway Safety are joining efforts in Operation Blue RIPTIDE - an Impaired Driving Enforcement and Speed Management Initiative to make Rhode Island roadways safer.

Officers will be out in marked and unmarked patrol cars at various hours looking for impaired drivers and for drivers operating erratically.

  • .08 is the law in Rhode Island

  • Someone dies in an alcohol related crash once a week on average in Rhode Island

  • Someone in America dies every 30 minutes because of an impaired driver

  • If you’re going out, designate a sober driver before the celebrating begins.

  • Drive your friend home, call a cab, or have your friend sleep over

 

If you see a drunk driver, call the Coventry Police Department immediately at 401-826-1100 or the RI State Police on your cell phone at *SP, *77, or 911.

"The Coventry Police will also have officers out at numerous times in 2006 and 2007 for Speed Enforcement & Click it or Ticket details. The goal of all three programs is to make our streets safer."
